A series of paintings (2025)

Theme: labeling, questioning the things given as facts
This work was inspired by ‘Lachrymatory’ by Tawada Yuki, exhibited at the Fotomuseum in The Hague. The artist incorporated the ashes of photographs into a glaze for pottery. The final work consisted of a collection of ceramics.

What makes this interesting is that the work was exhibited at the photography museum, which classifies the work as photography, despite no photos being visible in the final piece.

This sparked the question: if the ashes of photographs can still be considered photography, could the ashes of my paintings also still be considered a series of paintings?
