De spanning van het is niet meer (2025)

Theme: time, transcience

A group project, made together with:
Dido Friede, Luuk Veldkamp, Wout Soeters and Djoszuwa Zwier.
During this seminar, people from  different HKU disciplines where brought together.

My group consisted of fine arts students, music students and me, a graphic design student.

Our project was made and presented in an exhibition space in a squatted building. The space was available for two weeks in January, making it quite cold without heating or electricity. Every day we spent experimenting from 9:00 to 17:00. Eventually, the sun would set and it became too dark to continue working.

Throughout those two weeks, we made art both inspired by and in dialogue with the space itself. Our focus was entirely on the surrounding environment, which became not only our source of inspiration but an essential part of the work.

The intensity of our time there led to philosophical conversations about who might have lived in the house before us, and what it might once have looked like. The space became deeply familiar; by the end of the second week, we knew every corner. We worked alongside one another, constantly reshaping and continuing each other’s pieces. Improvisation, conversation, and reflection guided us toward our final exhibition: De spanning van het is niet meer.
