Theme: grief, nostalgia
The videos were recorded before I was born. The printed figures on the fabric, my brother, nephew, and me, were captured after my grandfather passed away in 2012, accompanied by audio from after that time.
He never saw or heard any of us in the footage, just as we never experienced the moments he filmed.
By combining the video’s he filmed from before i was born, with the photographs and audio from after he passed, i desperately tried to break time barriers and create new memories of times that never happened. To prolong the short time we had together.
The wall behind the fabrics forms the final piece. Here, the video footage merges with the shadows of the photographs, which seem to try to become part of the film.
